Happy 83rd Birthday Swami - Sathya Sai Baba 23.11.08

For my friends who doesn't know or not familiar with my beloved teacher Sathya Sai Baba, this message from him is self explanatory :

"I have come to light the lamp of Love in your hearts, to see that it shines day by day with added luster. I have not come on behalf of any exclusive religion. I have not come on a mission of publicity for a sect or creed or cause, nor have I come to collect followers for a doctrine. I have no plan to attract disciples or devotees into my fold or any fold. I have come to tell you of this unitary faith, this spiritual principle, this path of Love, this virtue of Love, this duty of Love, this obligation of Love. (4 July 1968, Baba)"

Today it's Baba's birthday. However, to ascribe the term 'Birthday' to the Birthless one seems inappropriate. Advent would be better to describe the magnitude of the event of the Supreme coming into our midst in a human form. As a devotees, we refer to it as Birthday. Swami has no desire to have his Birthday celebrated. Such trivial thoughts never goes to him. The celebration is to share his Love with us and to encourage us to lead lives full of bliss, aware of the unity of mankind, promote love and service the joy to every one on earth.

My god sis Ting reminded me a few days ago about the celebrations of the birthday held in Singapore Tao Payoh In Door Stadium. My God mum and dad who are one of the organisers for Chinese team will be singing Mandarin songs from 2pm for half an hour. They are very devoted and practicing Baba's teachings.

The even started from 6am till 9pm. The Stadium is packed with devotees and visitors. As usual, we went in the evening after taking vegetarian dinner in Bancoolen Foodcourt. It's raining cats and dogs. I'm not worried at all as I know Swami will make it easy for me and my family. I speak to him in my heart "Baba, I'm sure the rain will stop after our dinner." The rain stop after our dinner. The sky is clear the moment we finish our grain of rice. Baba heard me and love me as usual.

The night is wonderful and the songs are nice. We offer our respect to him and left for the night with bliss. Baba doesn't travel so he is not physically present in Singapore. However, we know our beloved Swami is present and always loving and teaching us. I bought some key chains and we are are also given wonderful gift.....the holy and healing gifts.

Happy Birthday Swami. I know you are always happy, everywhere. You said so. I know you want us to be happy all through, not just waiting for the birthday to recur every year. I will and I'll continue practicing your teachings even though I'm still very amateur.

Swami......
Thanks for guiding me when I'm weak. I'll keep trying to be a better person when many times I'm still very weak.
Thanks for sending me hints and messages when I'm in need.
Thanks for your Love and teachings.

Unknown Visitor in Vivocity

It was my birthday and my colleagues and I went to Vivocity for dinner. As it was a Friday night, the traffic is killing us. We waited for about an hour before we can find a parking lot.
Happily and hungrily we proceed to the restaurants. Wow, all we can see is long queue. We are at a lost which restaurant to patronise and I suggested to just go into one that has shortest queue. We ended up in a Thai restaurant. We thought that the food might not be nice that's why the queue is short. However, it's not the case.

We are just very lucky to get a seat. After we enter the restaurant, the crowd just flop in and I guess they have to wait for at least half an hour before allotted a seat.Being the bday girl, I have the Power to decide what to order. Oh my gosh....it's expensive. Even though my boss is paying, I can't order expensive food else I'll be out of job the next day :P.

Olive rice is my favorite. It's a must in my list when I visited Thai restaurant.
The Phad Thai noodles is chewy and thumbs up.

Green Curry Chicken is not very spicy but the herbs are fantastic. It's a 4 stars dish.

Thai Tou Fu is the only dish that is not spicy. haha....my boss order this cos he knows I can't take spicy food.Save the best for last. Tom Yum Soup is THE BEST. They have two soup base. One is clear base and the other is cream base. For my sick, my colleague order the clear base soup thinking that it might be less spicy. This soup comes in steam boat style that serve 3 - 4 persons. They sell per bowl too if you can't take much.Wow.....the soup is MUST TRY. It's very very spicy but it never deter me from taking. After a few sip. My lips swollen and I drank 2 big glass of water. Well, too nice you see. After drinking water....I continue with the TY soup. haha...

Thanks to my boss and my best colleague cum friend Regine. Who say you can't have colleague to be your friend ?
Hey, you must be thinking what is all these to do with Ghost and Miracles ?????

Haha......friends, did you notice something in the pic ? The one that I took with my beautiful colleague ? Can you see a blur image beside her ? Can you tell me what is it ?

I don't know. I just know that at that moment when we took the pic, I'm thinking of my mother. She love Thai food just like me. At that moment, I'm thinking if she can sees me, she can feel how I feel, she will be glad that I'm so bless to have so many friends and family loving me and celebrating my birthday with me. I believe that she is trying to show me that she knows how much I miss her and how much I wish her to be with me sharing all my happy moments.

Mum, you are with god and I know you will always be my guiding angel watching over me.

SAUCER SPIRIT (碟仙)

IT IS OK TO KNOW BUT NOT OK TO TRY PLAYING.
DO NOT try this game as it might have FATAL CONSEQUENCES.
You might be psychologically affected and thus physically affected.
If you know any friend playing, please help them before they go too deep into it.
Practice your judgement and be with GOD instead of the opposite.

About the Spirit :

It’s spirit whom you invite to answer your questions. They are belief to be able predict the future and see your past. They are invisible and usually harmless but playful at times. Some people belief that the spirit is spirit of their relatives, ancestors or friends. Thus, they will not harm you in most circumstances.

Even though, players should not be too obsessed in this game. There are people who are so into this game and treat the answer given as an order. Some people even committed suicide as the answer they get is unfavorable. Always remember, your future is in your hand. Be strong and you are able to change situation even if they are undesirable.

What you need :

Choose a quiet place to play with minimum 3 persons. You can have 4, 5 or 6 players if the saucer is big enough to let all players rest their index fingers on. You are trying to invite kind spirit and not haunting ghost. So try not to play at haunted house and not at 12am as you do not wish to invite ghost that is looking for replacement.

Use a big piece of white paper and a white saucer. In the middle of the paper, draw a circle slightly bigger then the dish representing the ‘home’ of the saucer. Around the ‘home’ circle, write neatly number 0 to 9, alphabets A to Z, ‘yes’, ‘no’ and some simple words if you want (For English). For Chinese version, you can write number 0 – 9 and common words that you can think of such as ‘yes, no, surname, colors etc”. This is for communication between the spirit and players. (When I was very young, I can buy such Saucer Game. It was pack in a bag with a saucer and paper pre-printed with words from provision shops. It’s a common game at that time.).

How to Play :

Place the paper with words and numbers written on it on a table. Invert the saucer and use a market pen to mark an arrow on the bottom of the dish pointing from the center to the rim of the dish (so that when it moves, you know clearly which work the dish is pointing to). Place the up side down saucer in the middle of the paper where you have drawn a circle ‘home’ earlier. All players sit around it and rest their index finger lightly on the dish.
All players to focus and chant softly “saucer spirit, saucer spirit, please come out” (碟仙, 碟仙, 快出来.). All players must be focus and sincere in your invitation. Do not fool around and talk nonsense. Even if one of the player is not focus or sincere, the spirit will not be willing to accept your invitation and answer your questions.

When the spirit arrives, the saucer will start to move left right or in circular motion. Be polite and sensitive when asking question. Do not be rude to the spirit as you might offend it and it might punish you or refuse to leave even though you have decided not to play on. So, be polite and respectful.

Once the saucer starts to move, players can ask questions one at a time. You may take turns asking questions. The spirit will answer your question by moving to the workds indicated on the paper. Always be polite and play at the right place.

YOU SHOULD NOT ASK stupid and offending question such as how did the spirit die, whether he is angry with his death, when did he die etc etc.

When you have no more questions to ask, you have to ask the spirit to return to it’s home politely. All have to chant “saucer spirit, saucer spirit, we have no more question, please go back.” (碟仙碟仙,所有的问题都问完了,你可以回去了.) The saucer will slowly return to it’s ‘home’ in the center of the paper. Before the saucer return to the ‘home’ where it will stop moving, nobody should lift their fingers from the saucer.

Sometimes, the spirit will not return immediately. It that case, all must be sincere and keep repeating the chant of asking it to go home. Do not panic and lift your fingers. It will go home if all players are sincere and focus. They are friendly but sometimes playful.

However, there are rare cases where it refuses to go home. When such things happen, one of the player (preferably virgin) must prick his/her fingers and drip a drop of blood on the saucer. Chanting of holly chants is necessary to protect yourself. This happen when you didn’t actually invite spirit but ghost. So, players must select a clean place before playing. The best is not to play as you can’t be sure who you are inviting.

As this is a game of concentration and focus, many argue that it’s not spirit that you invite but the will power of all players to seek the answers from your sub-conscious.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT -- DO NOT TRY !!!
Don't let your love ones worry for you over a spooky game.

Month of Hungry Ghosts鬼节/中元节

Hungry Ghosts Festival is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated by Chinese in many countries. The Seventh Lunar Month of the year is the Ghost Month and the Thirteenth Day is the Ghost Day.

In ghosts’ month, ghosts and spirits (wondering spirits and those of deceased ancestors) will come out from underworld. They will enjoy stage shows, enjoy food, drinks and goodies offer to them, as well as visiting their living descendants and friends. Many living descendants will pay respect to their ancestors too.

In ghost day, three realms of heaven, hell and living are open. Thus, many Taoists and Buddhists will perform rituals for the sufferings of the deceased. It is a kind of ancestor worship to show their filial piety to the ancestor. At the same time it’s also a kind gesture for offering those deceased without living descendants (wondering ghosts).

Activities include preparing food offerings, burning incense and joss paper, as well as Paper Mache such as clothes, shoes, cars, TV and other fine goods for the visiting spirits of the ancestors.

Temporary performance stages (七月歌台) set up for arties to sing and dance. are set up for arties to sing and dance. Some traditional opera shows and puppet shows are available too. First row of empty audience seats are reserved for the spirits/ghosts. Elaborate meals would be served with empty seats too for each of the deceased in the family treating the deceased as if they are still living.

We must feed them, pray for them, buy them gift, entertain them….and most importantly….show them respect.

Spooky Games :
You need prayer oil, a bowl of chicken blood and a bowl of noodles (the longer the better). Look for a bathroom with bathtub. Pour the chicken blood into the bowl and bow three more times. After the bows, Do Not lift your head up when you see or hear something.
